Barnegat Township mixes neighborhoods near Barnegat Bay with large inland developments built over the last few decades. That makes it a township of homeowners who want more room, updated kitchens and baths, new roofs and siding, and sometimes a second story, without leaving a neighborhood they like.

What we build in Barnegat

Home additions · Add-a-levels · Kitchens · Bathrooms · Basements · Roofing · Siding · Windows · Decks · Pavers & patios · Sunrooms. Additions, add-a-levels, whole-home renovations and new construction are built by Remodeling Network directly. For trades we don't build ourselves, our Preferred Contractors network prices the same written scope.

Barnegat homes: what to plan for

  • Bay-side flood zones. Areas close to Barnegat Bay and its creeks are in FEMA flood zones, where elevation and the substantial-improvement rule can apply to additions and larger renovations.
  • HOA and adult communities. Some Barnegat neighborhoods are adult communities or are governed by an HOA. Exterior changes and additions can need association approval alongside the township permit. We build that review into the schedule.
  • Pinelands to the west. Parts of the township fall within the Pinelands Area, where some projects that add footprint need a Pinelands Commission filing first.
  • Homes from the 1990s and 2000s. Houses of that age are now due for roofs, siding, windows and kitchen updates. We price them as one scope so exterior work is done in a sensible order.

Permits and inspections in Barnegat

Barnegat Township's construction office issues building, electrical, plumbing and fire permits under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code and schedules the inspections. Your written scope lists which permits your project needs and who pulls them. Contractors must hold a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration; ours is #13VH11195900, and every contractor on our Preferred Contractors page shows theirs.

How it works

Every request is read by a real person. We start by helping you turn what you want into a clear, written scope — the work, the materials, the allowances, the permits and the warranty — so you know exactly what you're buying before anyone prices it.

From there, we either build the project ourselves or introduce you to licensed, insured New Jersey contractors from our network who price that same scope. You compare the proposals apples to apples, and you make the final decision. We never choose for you.

Barnegat remodeling FAQs

Do you handle HOA approval for a Barnegat addition?

We prepare what the association asks for, such as drawings, material selections and a description of the work, and we build the review time into the schedule. The approval request is the homeowner's to make; we tell you early if your community requires one.

Can you add a second story to a Barnegat ranch?

Often, yes. The foundation, existing framing and zoning height limits decide. At the first visit we look at the structure and tell you whether an add-a-level or a rear addition is the better fit.

Will Remodeling Network do the work itself or refer me to another contractor?

Both happen. Additions, add-a-levels, renovations and new construction are usually built by Remodeling Network directly. For other trades we introduce you to licensed, insured contractors from our network who price your written scope, and you choose. We never guarantee another contractor's work, and we tell you up front which arrangement applies.
