Ocean County Remodeling & General Contractor

Our office is in Little Egg Harbor, so Ocean County is home turf: Tuckerton to Toms River, Jackson to Long Beach Island. Ed visits, writes the scope, and we build it or match you with a licensed network contractor.

Remodeling Network LLC is headquartered at 829 Radio Road in Little Egg Harbor, and many of the projects in our gallery — Brick, Manahawkin, Jackson, Long Beach Island — were built here in Ocean County. That matters for more than drive time: we know which neighborhoods sit in flood zones, which townships move permits quickly, and what a 1970s rancher in Bayville needs before it can carry a second story.

Home additions · Add-a-levels · Kitchens · Bathrooms · Basements · Roofing · Siding · Windows · Decks · Pavers & patios · Sunrooms. Additions, add-a-levels, whole-home renovations and new construction are built by Remodeling Network directly. For trades we don't build ourselves, our Preferred Contractors network prices the same written scope.

Ocean County homes: what to plan for

  • Flood zones and elevation. Lagoon and bayfront neighborhoods — Mystic Islands, Beach Haven West, Holiday Beach, the barrier islands — sit in FEMA flood zones. If a renovation costs more than 50% of the building's value, the township's substantial-improvement rule can require bringing the whole house up to current flood elevation. We check that threshold before the scope is priced, not after.
  • Post-Sandy construction. Many shore homes were raised or rebuilt after 2012. Additions, decks and exterior work on those houses have to tie into the elevated structure and its foundation.
  • 1960s to 1980s ranches and capes. The classic Ocean County house is a one-story ranch or cape on a slab or crawlspace. An add-a-level or a rear addition is usually the most cost-effective way to get more room without leaving the neighborhood.
  • Adult communities. Holiday City, Leisure Village, Crestwood Village and similar communities need HOA architectural approval alongside the township permit. We build that review into the timeline.
  • Pinelands. The western parts of the county — Jackson, Plumsted and parts of Lacey, Barnegat and Little Egg Harbor — fall inside the Pinelands Area, where some projects that add footprint need a Pinelands Commission filing first.

Permits and inspections in Ocean County

Every Ocean County municipality runs its own construction office under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. Little Egg Harbor, Stafford, Toms River, Brick and the rest each issue their own permits and schedule their own inspections. Your written scope lists which permits apply (building, electrical, plumbing, fire) and who pulls them. Contractors must hold a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration; ours is #13VH11195900, and every contractor on our Preferred Contractors page shows theirs.

How it works

Every request is read by a real person. We start by helping you turn what you want into a clear, written scope — the work, the materials, the allowances, the permits and the warranty — so you know exactly what you're buying before anyone prices it.

From there, we either build the project ourselves or introduce you to licensed, insured New Jersey contractors from our network who price that same scope. You compare the proposals apples to apples, and you make the final decision. We never choose for you.

Ocean County remodeling FAQs

Do you work on Long Beach Island?

Yes. We build and refer projects on LBI from Barnegat Light to Holgate, including siding, roofing, windows, decks and additions on elevated homes. Island work needs flood-zone planning and, in summer, scheduling around each borough's construction-hour rules, so we plan both up front.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen or bathroom remodel in Ocean County?

Replacing cabinets, counters or fixtures in place usually does not. Moving plumbing, adding circuits, removing walls, changing gas lines or altering the structure does. The permit comes from your township's construction office, and your scope will state which ones apply.

Will Remodeling Network do the work itself or refer me to another contractor?

Both happen. Additions, add-a-levels, renovations and new construction are usually built by Remodeling Network directly. For other trades we introduce you to licensed, insured contractors from our network who price your written scope, and you choose. We never guarantee another contractor's work, and we tell you up front which arrangement applies.
