Long Beach Island is about 18 miles of barrier island in six municipalities: Barnegat Light, Harvey Cedars, Surf City, Ship Bottom, Long Beach Township and Beach Haven. We reach the island over the Manahawkin causeway, and island work is a regular part of our gallery. Island projects are different from mainland ones: flood zones, wind, salt air, summer construction limits, and the logistics of getting crews and materials across the bridge.

Island towns we serve
We work in Barnegat Light and Harvey Cedars on the north end, Surf City and Ship Bottom in the middle, and Long Beach Township (including Brant Beach, Spray Beach and Holgate) and Beach Haven to the south. Not sure which borough you are in? The address on your tax bill tells us.
Long Beach Island homes: what to plan for
- Elevation and flood rules. Nearly all of LBI is in a FEMA flood zone. Floor height, flood vents and the substantial-improvement rule control what you can add or rebuild, and we verify them before the scope is priced.
- Elevated and post-Sandy homes. Many houses were raised or rebuilt on pilings after 2012. Decks, stairs, siding and additions must tie into that structure and meet wind and flood requirements.
- Salt air and wind. Corrosion-resistant fasteners, composite or PVC trim, high-wind or impact-rated windows and tight flashing details last years longer on the island than standard materials.
- Summer limits and logistics. Island towns apply construction-hour rules in summer, and everything crosses the causeway. We plan scheduling, deliveries and parking around each borough's rules so a seasonal owner is not surprised.
Permits and inspections on Long Beach Island
Each island municipality, from Barnegat Light to Beach Haven, runs its own construction office, and each one issues building, electrical, plumbing and fire permits under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code and schedules the inspections. Many island projects also need flood-hazard documentation, and larger work near the dunes or the bay can involve state coastal review (CAFRA) in addition to the local permit. Your written scope lists which permits your project needs and who pulls them. Contractors must hold a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration; ours is #13VH11195900, and every contractor on our Preferred Contractors page shows theirs.
How it works
Every request is read by a real person. We start by helping you turn what you want into a clear, written scope — the work, the materials, the allowances, the permits and the warranty — so you know exactly what you're buying before anyone prices it.
From there, we either build the project ourselves or introduce you to licensed, insured New Jersey contractors from our network who price that same scope. You compare the proposals apples to apples, and you make the final decision. We never choose for you.
Long Beach Island remodeling FAQs
Do you work all over Long Beach Island?
Yes: Barnegat Light, Harvey Cedars, Surf City, Ship Bottom, Long Beach Township, including Holgate, and Beach Haven. Send the address with your request and we will confirm the visit.
Can you manage a project on my LBI house while I am not there?
Yes. Many island owners are seasonal. A written scope, photo updates and one point of contact let a project move forward without you on site.
Will Remodeling Network do the work itself or refer me to another contractor?
Both happen. Additions, add-a-levels, renovations and new construction are usually built by Remodeling Network directly. For other trades we introduce you to licensed, insured contractors from our network who price your written scope, and you choose. We never guarantee another contractor's work, and we tell you up front which arrangement applies.
