Monmouth County mixes 1950s capes on tight bayshore lots with five-acre properties in Colts Neck and historic streets in Red Bank and Freehold, and each one needs a different plan. Ed visits the home and writes the scope. We build the larger projects ourselves and, for single-trade work, introduce you to licensed network contractors closer to home who price that same scope.

Additions, add-a-levels, whole-home renovations and new construction are built by Remodeling Network directly. For trades we don't build ourselves, our Preferred Contractors network prices the same written scope.

Monmouth County homes: what to plan for

  • Capes and split-levels. Middletown, Hazlet, Howell and Neptune are full of 1950s to 1970s capes and splits on good lots. An add-a-level or rear addition is usually cheaper per square foot than buying a bigger house in the same county.
  • Shore floodplain. Manasquan, Belmar, Sea Bright, Highlands and the bayshore have FEMA flood zones with the same substantial-improvement rules as Ocean County. Renovation budgets near 50% of the structure's value need elevation planning first.
  • Historic districts. Red Bank, Freehold Borough and Allentown review exterior changes — windows, siding, additions visible from the street — through a historic preservation commission before the building permit.
  • Larger lots, larger scopes. Colts Neck, Holmdel, Marlboro and Millstone projects tend to be full additions, great rooms and primary suites. Those start with an engineered plan set, and we bring in a drafting partner from the network when one is needed.

Permits and inspections in Monmouth County

Each of Monmouth's 53 municipalities issues its own permits under the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code. Projects in a flood zone or a historic district add a review step before the building permit. The scope lists every approval the job needs and who files it, and every contractor we refer holds a New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration shown on their listing.

How it works

Every request is read by a real person. We start by helping you turn what you want into a clear, written scope — the work, the materials, the allowances, the permits and the warranty — so you know exactly what you're buying before anyone prices it.

From there, we either build the project ourselves or introduce you to licensed, insured New Jersey contractors from our network who price that same scope. You compare the proposals apples to apples, and you make the final decision. We never choose for you.

Monmouth County remodeling FAQs

Do you serve the Monmouth County bayshore (Middletown, Hazlet, Keyport)?

Yes. Add-a-levels and additions on bayshore capes are a regular request. If the house sits in a flood zone we check the substantial-improvement threshold before pricing so the budget does not change halfway through.

Can you handle a historic-district home in Red Bank or Freehold?

Yes. Exterior changes in a designated district go to the historic preservation commission before the building permit. We build that review into the scope and the timeline.

Will Remodeling Network do the work itself or refer me to another contractor?

Both happen. Additions, add-a-levels, renovations and new construction are usually built by Remodeling Network directly. For other trades we introduce you to licensed, insured contractors from our network who price your written scope, and you choose. We never guarantee another contractor's work, and we tell you up front which arrangement applies.
